How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Short answer
On average 6 to 8 sessions are needed for a lasting result. Face and bikini are scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks, body and legs every 6 to 8 weeks. After the full course most clients reach a permanent hair reduction of 80 to 95 percent.

Why one session is never enough
The laser only affects hair that is actively growing at that moment. Hair grows in cycles, and at any given time only a portion of your hairs is in that active phase. The rest are resting and simply out of reach.
That is why one session is never enough, however good the device is. Each session catches the hairs that happen to be in the growth phase. By spacing sessions across the growth cycle of that zone, you catch a new batch every time.
The schedule per zone
| Zone | Interval between sessions |
|---|---|
| Face and bikini | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Body, back and legs | 6 to 8 weeks |
That interval is not arbitrary: it is matched to how quickly hair in that zone returns. Coming too early means firing at hair that is not yet in the active phase, so you pay for a session that delivers less.
What you notice per session
After the first session you already see a noticeable reduction in growth. The treated hairs fall out gradually over the following 1 to 3 weeks. After each subsequent session growth decreases further.
A realistic picture of the progression:
- Sessions 1 to 2 — visibly less hair, returning more slowly and finer in texture.
- Sessions 3 to 5 — the biggest visible gain. Many clients barely shave between sessions at this stage.
- Sessions 6 to 8 — the last, most stubborn hairs. This is what separates "much less hair" from "gone for good".
What decides your own number
The 6-to-8 average is exactly that: an average. Four things decide where within that range you land.
- Hair colour. Dark hair holds a lot of melanin and responds best. Light blond, red, grey or white hair holds little to none and responds poorly or not at all.
- Hair thickness. Coarser hair absorbs more energy per pulse.
- Skin type. The 808nm diode laser suits Fitzpatrick skin types I through V.
- Hormonal influence. Pregnancy and menopause can stimulate new growth, even after a completed course.
Does the result last?
Laser treatment leads to permanent hair reduction. After the full course growth is heavily reduced and in many cases almost entirely gone — for most clients 80 to 95 percent permanent reduction.
One maintenance session a year is usually enough to hold that result.
The most important rule between sessions
Shaving is fine. Waxing, epilating and sugaring are not.
This is not a detail. Those methods remove the hair root, and the root is exactly what the laser needs in order to work. Waxing between two sessions makes the next session largely pointless.
Shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before every session.
What does a full course cost?
Do not budget for a single session price but for a course of 6 to 8 sessions. Per zone per session, rates run from €10 to €350 depending on the zone. The full list is on the prices page.
